Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are probably two weeks away from completion of a construction project and the builder has suspended works. He initially stated that he would not complete outstanding works per the original contract until we pay for extras - which have never been previously discussed.
He has today sent an email saying that he is prepared to return, before we discuss the "extra's" however given his aggression and the standard of the work, I am reluctant to allow him to return.
We do not have a contract. Instead we asked for a quotation based on detailed architects drawings, structural engineer's report. They provided a two page quotation, which was followed up with a number of questions and answers about what was included in the quote. The cost was broken down into a number of weekly payments followed by a retention - we have transferred over all but one of the weekly payments and so there is one more weekly payment plus the retention that we are holding.
I would like to know what my options are and to either send a letter of notice to terminate or a letter to terminate immediately.
UK solicitor only please. I am based in north west London.
