Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: This is a penny auction website.
Description of requirements/features: I need some development done on a website at www.teamblack.com. The site is almost completed but we are having some persistent bugs that are interfering with us going live.
This is penny auction website developed in WordPress.
01.) We are going to need some kind of alternate way for the end-users to access the items they've won or bid on. We can't have the items unavailable or have the inability to pay for them. Right now, what is happening is that when several users are on the site, the ability to pay for items seems to go away. I’m not sure if this is a latency issue, bandwidth issue, or what. This CANNOT happen. When end-users select “Buy Now” or “Bid Now”, they should get an option to pay for the items. Let's discuss this (so that you fully understand).
02. Bidding ended is insufficient wording. See my previous email about the wording that should be here. – Let’s discuss.
03. When someone uses the teammate their name stays as the highest bidder on the home page. The name must change for each bidder. - Let’s discuss.
04. The site seems to jump at times, causing delays in the ability to bid.
05. The featured auctions (top of the page) work differently than those items on the lower part of the home page. When you click bid now on a featured item it takes you to the details page. When you click bid now on an item under latest posted auctions it bids right away without going to the details page.
06. Flash needs to appear when someone bids (doesn't happen on home page). – Let’s discuss
07. The names of the bidders on the home page need to be highlighted or in a different font color.
08. The countdown timer - which adds additional time when some bids below 10 seconds, needs to be checked. Only one bidder should be able to affect the time increase. It looks almost like multiple bidders increased the time.
09.) You should have a group of people to test the functionality - with me – at a time (US time zone) that we can test out the functionality (primarily these changes/corrections that I am requesting). This testing is to test the effect of the changes/corrections in a simulated production mode.
10.) Auction items need to be fully boxed in (border lines around the items).
11.) Menu headings should have grey overlay. Featured items highlight color appears to be set to white. This should be set the same way as the other fonts on the other auctions. – Let’s discuss.
12.) The website should be configured for more efficient use. …whether that be removing unneeded plugins, unnecessary, making changes to the database, or something else. It’s an eCommerce website and need to act like one. This is paramount. I need to know why the site is not able to handle high-volume traffic and what the recommend solution is for improving this.
13.) I need to have flexible access to the developer of this project. I need extremely flexible response times with the developer of this project or the situation will not meet the needed purpose(s).
14.) You can reach me on Skype (jaimereborn) to discuss some of the details. Much of this functionality has already been developed. It needs to be refined to ensure it works in production environment.
15.) Number 01, 04, 12 are paramount to the success of the website. These are the two priorities. If nothing else works, these two need to be accomplished in order for us to go live. It needs to function like an eCommerce website doing business transactions in real time. THIS IS IMPORTANT! If you cannot accomplish these tasks, please do not submit for this project.
The coding on this project, for the most part is done. I need someone to review it improve it so that it can move from development into production mode. Remember, if given the job, you will need some additional people to do a live test with me for checking the changes/corrections.
- I am a developer myself but am working on several other projects and need to get this done as it has gone over budget and off-schedule. I will be the point of contact for the assignment.
If possible, please sign-up for a www.teamblack.com account, as an end-user first, and test out some of the functionality of the website. You will NOT be paid simply for signing up but it will help you in understanding the functionality of the website how the website works and help me in explaining to you how the website is supposed to work. I need input from experienced, top-level developers only.
...thank you.
