Description

Experience Level: Expert
Large site aimed at used car buyers in the UK.

We are looking for a web developer to join the team and help to drive the site development forward as we constantly introduce new functionality and improvements.

You will join us on a long-term contracting basis - initially working on a redevelopment project and then helping drive the business forward on an ongoing basis with new site developments and continuous site improvements. However, despite the long-term nature of the role, there will be scope for you to work on other client\'s projects at the same time.

You will need to be ambitious and interested in a challenge, and the rewards it will bring. If not, this role isn\'t for you.

-----------
Location
-----------

The company is based in central London, but the candidate would be able to work remotely and would only be required to come to London very infrequently.

-----------
The Role
-----------

You will work on every aspect of technical development, from requirement analysis, design, development, testing through to deployment and the management of the production environment. The emphasis of this role is on web development, and you must be a web developer with the requisite skills and not a .NET developer who has little web knowledge or experience.

You will have a strong commercial development experience of 5+ years and at least 3-4 years strong VB and ASP.NET development experience. You should also have 4-5 years strong SQL Server experience with skills to create and maintain stored procedures, manage database objects and perform data optimisation tasks as necessary. Experience in handling large data volumes is essential.

You will also have an excellent knowledge of CSS, XHTML, Javascript, XML and XSLT and have a genuine interest and passion for the web.

The ideal candidate would also have knowledge of one or more of the following - accessibility, CMS Systems, server maintenance, JQuery and experience of some technical aspects of Search Engine Optimisation.

This role is a proactive one where the individual is expected to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive as a key member of a small, growing company.

You will be expected to be very \"hands-on\" and competent with technical work in a small business environment. An interest in cars would be an added bonus.

-----------
Outline of Responsibilities
-----------

* Handle change requests and provide quick and efficient solutions
* Analyse business requirements and transform them into technical design
* Implement the design to develop and test the functional requirements
* Source code maintenance
