Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
General information for the business: SAAS B2B Business
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: We are a London based startup seeking an experienced web applications developer / architect to help lay the foundations of a world beating B2B SAAS offering.
Backed by investors who are experienced in the world of B2B cloud services we’ve identified a gap in the market and have mapped out a product offering. The next step is to create a Proof of Concept (PoC) to investigate and demonstrate key technical principles that the overall product will rely on, which is where you come in.
There are two parts to the role:
- Provide guidance on the types of technology and architecture you believe will be most suitable for developing a scalable, low latency web app that can be prototyped once the PoC is complete (this will include documenting high-level architecture to be used as a roadmap for the next phase)
- Whip together a fast and simple Proof of Concept limited to a few key functions to prove that the management and handling of data to support the product offering is feasible (don’t worry, we’ll provide exact requirements)
We are not expecting the PoC or Architecture outputs to be fixed in stone, but we do want to investigate multiple options so that a firm technical foundation is in place for prototyping and product development.
As a result you must have good hands on coding skills across a variety of web technologies, coupled with the ability to move up and down the stack and operate at a more strategic level. Scalable, low latency SAAS Web Apps / Rich Internet Apps experience is a must - this is not a simple static website.
To help make an informed decision on the architecture we expect you will have varying degrees of experience and familiarity with a range of technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, Python (Django, Kivy, etc), Ruby (RoR), Node.js, and services such as Parse, Firebase, Heroku, AWS, etc. You will also need to be an expert at identifying technical solutions to support business requirements.
As a startup we work fast, we work lean and we work in a flexible manner.
Attitude will play a big part in the success of this project, so we are looking for someone with a proactive outlook who will actively contribute to what we are building. Once the PoC is complete work on a prototype offering will commence. Based on the success of the PoC and the quality of your work an on-going long term role may be offered.
Contributions to open source projects and a name for yourself on Github would be advantageous.
Given that we are in the early stages of lift off we would prefer a UK based resource if possible, and are seeking individuals not development houses.
P.s. In the near future we’ll be taking on board a UX designer, front and back end developers, and a marketing guru. Keep your eyes peeled!
Specific technologies required: We expect you will have varying degrees of experience and familiarity with a range of technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, Python (Django, Kivy, etc), Ruby (RoR), Node.js, and services such as Parse, Firebase, Heroku, AWS, etc.
