Description
Experience Level: Expert
This position is now changed and we require onsite programmer only - Full accommodation will be paid for the duration of the project 4 - 6 weeks, as well as your bid.
Venue System Overview - the system is 80% complete, we require UK programmer to have inital on-site meeting (1 day, can be weekend) and then service remotely:-
The Venue system comprises a Microsoft VB.NET 2005 Windows front end and a SQL Server 2005 back end. The client side was developed using Visual Studio 2005.
The supplied software includes a full backup of the Visual Studio project folders including project and solution files, .dll files, graphic files, etc. As supplied the system builds correctly with no errors. The source code includes comments and uses meaningful variable names.
The back end is designed on a SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. It is a relation design with referential integrity constrains. There are no SQL Server Agent jobs or SSIS packages and there are no special configuration settings required. The collation is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. SQL Server is set to it's default installation settings ie US date time. The client is assuming UK date time and there are hence the usual formatting code to ensure that date and times are correctly transferred between the server and the client. A database diagram of the tables/relationships is included in SQL Server.
The file jigsaw.zip contains a backup file of our copy of the SQL Server backend. To the best of our knowledge this is identical to the version that you have on your server, apart from any data that you may have created of course.
The file Venue Source Code.zip is a copy of the entire Visual Studio project. Reports are generated using the built-in Crystal Reporting functionality. There are subfolders for each main are of the application; Accommodation, Accounts, Administration, Assets, Contacts, EventSourcing, Reports and Venues. SQL Server Reporting Services reports were also created but this aspect of the application was not implemented. However the Web Reference/Reports folder contains some SSRS reports which you may like to use if relevant.
The front end also contains functionality to set up users on SQL Server and to edit their permissions - use this instead of doing it directly in SQL Server.
The client software uses class modules, inheritance, properties, etc. so the developer will need to understand OOP design techniques.
A menu driven approach is used for the front end as this is what is requested by the client.
