Description
Database management system (DBMS): Microsoft SQL Server
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: Hi all
I need to learn how to build a web front end for a SQL Server back end, using C# and ASP .Net.
I've built many databases over the years using SQL Server and SQL Azure, with a Microsoft Access front end. I have good knowledge of SQL and of VBA. I have a limited (and rusty) knowledge of C#, and no knowledge of ASP. I have a little (rusty) knowledge of CSS and a bit of HTML.
I'm looking for someone to spend several days (I'm thinking 4 days or so) face to face with me in London to teach me how to develop web front ends for SQL back end databases.
As a sample project, I'd be interested in building a room or facility booking website, but it's more about me learning the development skills than the specific site we build.
If you've got any training experience, that would be fantastic!
Doesn't have to be 4 consecutive days - could do 2 days one week and 2 the next.

Sorry, one more thing - I've quoted £30 but would need to add VAT to that as this would go through my company. So the actual billed rate would need to be £36/hour but am assuming your company can reclaim the VAT. Wish PPH was more VAT-friendly! Can't add this to my proposal, hence added as a question...

Are you looking simply to be able to build your own websites/apps, or to develop a "commercial" level expertise where you can work as a developer elsewhere? Are you looking for ASP.Net Webforms, or MVC? And how time-specific are you; I'm not available next week but could probably do (e.g.) 10-12th July + 17th/18th.
Andrew R.30 Jun 2017Hi
Thanks for your message, and I'm sorry it's taken me a little while to come back to you.
I'm not at all tied to specific times. In fact, a little more time before we start would be good, as I'm trying to learn a bit more C# first, so that I'm not asking you the most basic essentials of the language. So, I can fit in with you. I'm pretty busy in fact for the next 3 weeks or so, so some point after that would be good.
As I understand it, MVC would be the way to go, rather than web forms? But I'm open to guidance on this and all other related issues.
I'm looking to get the skills at the moment to understand how the technologies work and work together. I'd like to be able to build web front ends for our customers to the databases we've already created, but I know that this is a long term project to build my skills. The thing is, I've got various books on C#, and usually building database apps and web apps are on about chapter 59 and 60, and my time and enthusiasm have waned by then, so I'm looking for someone who can give me a more specific set of skills to meet my requirements.Small Office Solutions Ltd01 Jul 2017Sorry, one more thing - I've quoted £30 but would need to add VAT to that as this would go through my company.
