Experience Level: Entry
Social Media Paid Intern or Part Time Contractor
20 hours per week, Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur (Preference for North America residents due to scheduling) [equivalent to half-time position ongoing]
Position Summary: The Social Media Paid Intern is a half-time paid contractor position reporting to the Social Media Manager. The specialist is a talented and versatile professional with an excellent command of British and American English, who must quickly research, edit, create, organise and update social media posts for a number of client accounts, actively working within social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Google+ and for other priority projects. The specialist must be able to grasp and adapt to numerous different client 'voice' requirements, including some UK-based clients requiring UK English spelling, and convey intended messages accurately and succinctly. The specialist must be a fast thinking and quick moving, well organized communicator who can set adapt to a varied set of well documented requirements, accept feedback and adjust accordingly. Other critical skills include the ability to set priorities, multi-task, think outside the box, solve problems, collaborate and contribute to organisational objectives.
Must be able to follow the company mantra of, “Look, Think, Look - Then Ask”.
Prior personal experience hands-on with social media research or making posts is required, with preference given to candidates having paid work experience in this regard - though it is not required. The specialist must exhibit a strong desire to learn any and all aspects of social media marketing within a fast-paced marketing company having a global client base. The specialist will be a self-starter, capable of working from home, residence or own-provided facilities which of course include internet access and will NOT be required to commute into the company offices (based in Glasgow), though on rare occasions a meeting may be scheduled within a short commute of the PPH'er.
Understanding that client posts will be edited, validated and scheduled by the Social Media Manager between the hours of 6:00AM and 3:00PM UK Time (10:00PM the night before to 7:00AM the same day - Pacific Daylight Time), the specialist will be expected to have completed their 4 hour shift at some point between the hours of 10am and 9pm Pacific Daylight Time [between 1pm and Midnight EDT] Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. No work will be scheduled on Friday or Saturday.
Required Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent professional experience (or at least 2 years of marketing coursework completed)
- Current active accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Google+
- Ability to flexibly arrange one's own working time during scheduled hours
- Access to a computer with internet
- Account on peopleperhour.com, which handles the tracking of hours and payments
- Strong written English skills
- Ability to quickly grasp and convey messages using different client ‘voice’
- Knowledge of internet research and how to find information quickly
- Enjoy working at a fast pace with a variety of projects
The right candidate will have the opportunity to request additional paid hours working on various marketing projects including email newsletters, search engine optimisation, pay per click campaigns and blogging so as to enhance their experience and income.
