General information for the website: Shopify-based website, selling toy products
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of every page/module: The website should have the following changes
1. Home page update
a) add registration area at top of home page / main menu with associated popup text to encourage registration
b) add new menu link to "browse instruction content"
2. Registration popup
a) capture normal shopify contact details (first name, last name, email)
b) allow customer to subscribe to instruction content AND receive main newsletter
c) Add notice of successful registration on screen, along with triggering of email to customer
d) Each registered customer should be tagged in Shopify with "receive instructions"
d) OPTIONAL - Transfer capture of details into new Mailchimp list
3. Browse all Instruction content
a) Show all Instructions. Sort and filter by Difficulty, Last Date Added and Instruction Owner
b) All users should be able to browse, even if not registered
c) Instructions should be presented in grid table format, and be responsive to mobile/tablet/PC
d) Each instruction "thumbnail" should have Name, Difficulty, Month Added, Final Model Thumbnail
4. Instruction content page - if not registered
a) Show registration popup screen
b) Do not show content
5. Instruction content - detailed page, if registered
a) Provide a template layout for new instruction page. This should show all data (name, text description, final model pictures, instruction pictures) and metadata (Difficulty, Last Date Added, Related Products)
b) OPTIONAL - comments by customers if easy to do
c) OPTIONAL - link to share page to Facebook if easy
6. Checkout page
a) Add an extra checkbox into normal checkout process, allowing customers to register to access instruction content
Description of requirements/features: The current website allows customers to purchase construction toy products. Each product has instruction guides to make models. We would like to offer new instructions that allow the customer to make more use of their existing products.
Objectives for website change:
○ Provide new instruction content for existing customers to encourage continued usage of the construction toys
○ Build up Customer database - capture customer contact details for further engagement
○ Simple addition of new content - Enable easy addition of new instruction content every month by staff without any HTML/CSS/Liquid knowledge
Each Instruction has
- a name of the new set
- a picture of the final built set
- a difficulty level (1,2,3)
- a set of pictures, showing how to make the set
- a PDF download that corresponds to the set of pictures
- an owner (typically the brand)
Instruction content are to be added regularly and monthly. It should be possible to trigger a email notification to all registered customers (eg using MailChimp or any other mechanism leveraging Shopify platform).
Registered customers should be able to browse all instructions, search by some fields (difficulty, date last added), and view an instruction set
Customers who attempt to access an instruction page, who haven't registered yet, should be redirected to the registration popup
The ability to lock specific pages should not rely on an app with a recurring monthly charge (eg Locksmith)
CMS and Admin requirements: The website is using the Shopify platform, Ventura theme.
Initially there will be 3 instruction sets to ensure that the implementation and testing is complete.
Looking to ultimately add about around 50 instructions myself over the next 12 months on a monthly basis. Hence I would like to be able to add new instruction content using simple and existing Shopify authoring mechanisms if possible eg 1 Blog page = 1 Instruction and Shopify CDN used to host image and PDF files
I would like the Browse Instruction page to automatically pickup any new Instruction pages when they are added, without any manual change/addition
