Introduction

We have been working with a client that supplies capital goods via distributors. Their client has a requirement for a Selling Asset System that will provide access to a store of sales assets used to support sales. These assets are typically media in the form of documents and images. The assets are accessed as part of the sales process. The system will provide a simple-to-use interface that allows sales personnel to build packages of assets to support a sale, and allows customers to access the packages relevant to their sale.


Background

Our client has a requirement for Selling Asset System. Selling assets may include the following:
- Documents relevant to the sales process such as brochures, selling against guides, and so on. These may be in various formats, including PDF
- Images
- Videos
- Etc

The system is based around the management of these selling assets as part of the sales process.



Functional Requirements

The system functionality will include the following:
1. The system will recommend assets to the sales person, based on product. The selection may include other criteria.
2. When the sales person has selected the marketing assets, the system will assemble the selected assets into a package. The package will then be notified to the customer, for example by email. The customer will access the package via a unique url.
3. Packages may be augmented by the salesman, for example by uploading new documents such as quotes. These may be in various formats, e.g. Word, Excel, PDF etc.
4. Packages must be editable. For example, the sales person can add a revised quote.
5. Copy and Paste functionality will be available to the salesman. This will allow them to generate a package by copying and amending an existing package.
6. Packages will not include all assets relevant to the sale, as some are not suitable for the customer. For example, the selling against guide must not be included for the customer.
7. The system will allow packages to be closed, for example when a sale is completed.
8. The system will have the facility to track and display customer preferences. Similar to the Amazon customers who bought this also bought this facility.
9. The system will support reporting. For example, reports based on sales person, dealer or product.
10. The system will provide an admin interface, for example to allow the client to add new salesman, or for maintenance of the assets.


Technical Requirements

Currently, the client has a system for managing sales assets. This system is limited in its functionality and mainly provides a library for the storage of marketing assets. It is not well used by the sales force.

The technical requirements for the new Market Asset System are:
1. The system must interface to the existing asset database to access marketing assets
2. The user interface must be simple and attractive
3. The system is to be implemented using a web interface
4. The existing database is SQL Server, and the new system must implement its data in SQL Server
5. The preferred programming technology is ASP.Net
6. The system must be accessible on a range of platforms, including mobile devices
7. The system must be capable of supporting various languages (English is the initial implementation)
