SImilar to to SERP extractor, but Wizzier and fully automated rather than run manually http://www.chrisains.com/seo-tools/extract-urls-from-web-serps/
Brief:
An automated "tool" that is able to look at the the SERPs for particular keywords and extract adcopy, competitor domains/landing pages and Position data.
Ideal Outcomes:
Be able to look back at SERP over time
- Have a historical view of exactly how they looked
- Have good data to compare over time.
These are the things we would want to configure per Keyword/Client
- The keyword
- The Client
- Known domains (My Brand/Competitor/Other)
- Location of the search
- The device of the search
- Number of searches per day
- The Folder we would like the data saved in
- The users that should be given access to any docs or Folders to tool creates.
- Notifications: Flag When X domain appears in search, flag when X phrase appears in any field, email a link to the docs for each runs to X.
- Labels
--- we need someway for the tool to know how to Group reports together and any other labels... eg this client had had three Websites, This client had 8 but 7 are their own and 1 is a competitor)
--- Labels could also be used to affect settings (Brand Protection - search take place every hour*, High Value 8 times per day, Misc checked twice daily)
*Brand protection should include a notification service.
What are the things we want the tool to do:
1 - save the SERP as an HTML download and place in a folder system with a sensible name (EG CLIENT - WEBSITE - KEYWORD - YYYY/MM/DD TT:TT).
Idea is to be able to view the SERP, as it was historically.
Ideal would be a webpage that is searchable, that has each SERP data stamped as per naming convention above and is click to view (Think Wayback machine)
Perfect World: Sharable with the client
Just going mental: select multiple dates for side by side comparison!
2 - For all The Paid ads on page 1 Record the following on a Matrix/Spreadsheet/Webpage/SQL database
---- Date, Time, Position, Headline1, Headline2, Desc, Display URL and Landing page, labels of Brand/Competitor/Unknown*
*This would help us identify competitors that we were not already aware.
2a - It seems conceivable that the crawl could also open the landing page and take a "screenshot" of the landing page. If it could also plot a link of a recording of this (screenshot/HTML) that would be useful.
3 - Monitor particular domains:
This would be so the crawl to deeper pages can be set and/or so data can be limited* to the competitor(s) that matter most.
EG: follow Steps 1 and 2, then also look for named domains on page 1, 2, 3, 4.
- Perhaps the landing page recording in 2a only happens for named domains?
