I do commentary as the Voice of Backgammon for major backgammon tournaments around the world. Commentary is streamed to several thousand people per match. Backgammon players are wealthy and the world of backgammon is steeped in luxury goods and services.
The project is to create a strategy document for bringing in luxury sponsors for the commentary. Sponsoring companies will benefit from on-air personality endorsements, social media outreach from our web site and Facebook page, and print.
After crafting the strategy, I will of course need to hire a salesperson to execute.

Hello Larry, could the best strategy to getting sponsors be contacting already existing similar sport sponsors first?

That makes sense. Although, what is a "similar" sport? And what is the best way to get in touch with decision makers at those companies? What is the sales cycle for them making a decision? Should the strategy include going after small/startup companies first? Either way, how does the salesperson find the right person to talk to and what are the drivers that will make that person say "Yes"? There's a lot to consider...
