Description: Need to decompose certification regulations defined in FAR Part 27, into verifiable, concise, non ambiguous, singular requirements and allocate to the Tier 2 level meaning both Tier 1 and Tier 2 requirements need to be decomposed and allocated.
Tiering definitions:
Tier 1: Aircraft
Tier 2: System (Drives, Rotors, Propulsion, Electrical, Avionics, etc.)
Tier 3: Configuration Item (Main Rotor Gearbox Assembly, Crew Door Assy, etc.)
Tier 4: Part (windshield, top case, pitch horn, bearing, etc.)
Requirements shall be written in a "Who shall what" format with one requirement per line.
Use "TBD" inline for requirements that require a key performance parameter or constraint.
Identify requirement type; functional, performance, constraint, interface, environmental, other (safety, reliability, human factors, etc.).
Format can be defined by user, software can be DOORS, ENOVIA, Excel or other requirements management software that can export to spreadsheet or doc format.
In response start with FAR Part 27.49, using TBD for range, temp., altitude, etc. In showing traceability from regulation to requirement, do not split regulation text into multiple objects.
Example this is all one object:
27.49 Performance at minimum operating speed.
(a) For helicopters-
(1) The hovering ceiling must be determined over the ranges of weight, altitude, and temperature for which certification is requested, with-
(i) Takeoff power;
(ii) The landing gear extended; and
(iii) The helicopter in-ground effect at a height consistent with normal takeoff procedures; and
27.49 (a) 2. is another object.
You can have many requirements linked to one cert regulation object as a result.
