Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: Existing site needs backing up before we make our new site live
Description of every page/module: N/A
Description of requirements/features: We need a usable backup of a website currently hosted in Rackspace so we can refer back to it after our new site goes live.
We spoke to Rackspace support and this is the info they gave about what needs doing:
So, if you want to get a full backup of it, the easiest way to do that would be to either install the Cloud Backup Agent on the server, and then backup the data disk's files in their entirety. Or you could just use something like SFTP to log into the server's filesystem and grab the files that way.
You'd install Cloud Backup like you see here: https://support.rackspace.com/how-to/rackspace-cloud-backup-install-the-agent-on-linux/
And then once you've done that you create a backup just like you see here: https://support.rackspace.com/how-to/rackspace-cloud-backup-create-a-backup/
Make sure when you're going through the installation that you're using the steps for the Operating System that corresponds to your own servers. Which appears to be Ubuntu

Hi Laura,
what type of website is it, e.g. is it a WordPress website or a completely bespoke one.
Do you need the backup short term or for a longer time?Laura C.13 Jan 2017I believe it's quite an old version of drupal and we'll need to be able to refer to the backup indefinitely.
