We are looking for a freelancer bringing experience from the Hospital Environment.
The purpose of this role is to provide senior clinical and technical IT infrastructure expertise to develop, support and integrate electronic processes to enhance blood conservation and safety across OUHFT and community hospitals.
The post holder will also reach out to, and collaborate with, organisational clinical IT projects which may have a direct impact on the operation of the electronic transfusion and haemostasis systems and work with these teams to provide synergy.
The two main systems are the electronic blood transfusion management and point of care haemostasis systems (cell salvage and thromboelastography). These systems comprise software / hardware / servers, plus the respective databases. Interfaces with other Trust electronic systems, including Cerner EPR and SEND as well as future developments within the digital hospital environment need to be created, maintained and developed.
The role of the Project Development Manager in relation to these systems is to provide technical support and assess potential risks of electronic solutions in blood conservation and safety.
The role of the Project Development Manager in relation to these systems is to provide technical support and assess potential risks of electronic solutions in blood conservation and safety :
• Lead on the integration of the blood conservation and safety systems with other Trust electronic management systems to ensure synergy of clinical practice and effective patient outcomes
• Provide strategic clinical leadership and IT expertise in optimising and integrating hardware and non-hardware application based systems (hand held devices, tablet computers, iPads, web based developments, barcode scanning and printers) to optimise the vein to vein electronic processes of blood transfusion.
• Ensure synchronisation of handheld devices and barcode scanning equipment with the server
• Ensure ease of use of barcode technology and guidance on paediatric and adult wristbands and wristband printers
• Act as a resource for the Trust providing technical and expert support to all end users
• Consult with the BSAC team in the prioritisation, development and initiation of all projects
• Explore opportunities for the introduction of new technology for additional clinical applications
• Ensure devices and databases are networked and backed up
• Troubleshoot, resolve and provide innovative solutions to IT infrastructure problems regarding medical devices, server functionality and databases
• Provide IT support to the onsite project support specialists
• Lead on enhance current systems, taking accountability for decisions to implement changes such as Bluetooth printing.
• Where elements of the transfusion process links with other electronic systems, monitor the effectiveness of the linkage, ensure interoperability, safety and data security and make suggestions to improve the processes where necessary
• Demonstrate electronic blood transfusion processes to staff and external visitors.
• Design audit tools and questionnaires to assess the ease of use of new electronic processes e.g. barcode technology in blood transfusion by medical/nursing and phlebotomy staff
