Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Industry: Education
Design details: I need a poster designed to promote a seminar series at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford
The topic of seminar series is Technology Empowered Conservation. Specifically the seminar series is presenting cutting edge research that is combing (or assembling) various technological advances to bring about step changes in the study of nature (ecology) and the development of new approaches to conserving and restoring nature.
I want the design to capture a future-looking ‘conservation science in a technological world’ feeling, convey a sense of excitement at the new frontiers technology is opening. At the same time it needs to have a serious scientific feel to it. Ideally the design would capture the range of technologies being assembled – this include sensors and transmitters, sensor mounts (drones), ‘big data’, artificial intelligence, apps and so forth. (see the seminar outline and images for more details.
Crucially the design needs to include the list of dates, speakers, and titles and the web-link to the seminar series (to be supplied). It also need to include the Oxford University logo and the venue.
In short, I need a design that will ‘sell the seminar series’ to forward-looking, environmentally minded people
Poster distribution:
The poster will be put on cluttered notice boards and circulated as an email attachment. It will be printed in A3 and A4 and it would be great if part of it could also be cropped to attached to Tweets (not essential)
Output
I need a base design with text elements using a conventional font that I can edit and adjust as necessary. There is likely to be some adjustments to running order.
Target audience: Target Audiences: i) Professors, researchers and students at Oxford University, particularly those working in Zoology, Geography, Plant Science, Computing Sciences and Information Engineering ii) Professionals working for environmental, analytic and sustainability consultancies in and around Oxford iii) Colleagues working for environmental and conservation charities, and in government conservation departments
Number of pages needed: 1
Content on the front/back side and body: Oxford Biodiversity Network presents Technology Empowered Conservation (Part 1 Science). Thursdays 4.15pm, Jan 18th to March 8 2018. Halford Mackinder Lecture Theatre, School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford Datee, speaker, and titles of each seminar (see attached) Seminar series web-site, lecture videos and TEC resources www.geog.ox.ac.uk/TEC
Ideas for the visual style: Scientific, but engaging and future looking
Extra notes:
