Hi,
The ultimate goal here is to compress some log files and send them to another server.
We'd like to achieve the sending of the files using a perl based socket connection (not FTP, SFTP etc.)
So we need 2 scripts writing. One will be the 'recieving script', which exists on a storage server. The other will be a 'sending script'.
The general process flow would be...
1. compress files matching '*.log* in a given directory, hourly. Formatting the filename as [local IPV4 Address]-DD:MM:YY_HH:MM:SS-log.zip
2. Move the files via a direct socket connection to the storage server, using some form of authentication before sending.
3. Store the files on the destination server in a directory structure like '../logs/[senders IPV4 address/dd:mm:yy/[zip files for the day]
3. Once file has confirmed to have been moved, delete the original file.
Budget is set as a guideline, but happy to hear proposals.
