Experience Level: Intermediate
We are a small electrical contractors, and our engineers carry out electrical inspection and testing, parts of our inspection and testing work are carried out on a palmtop computer and we want to automate the reporting process.

currently the process is as follows.:
- engineers input data in to pocketaccess on a palmtop computer
- this file is then transferred to PC via Microsoft ActiveSync, which converts the file to a ms access file
- this file then needs to be formatted to populate a industry standard form (we currently export this data manually and drop it into an Excel spreadsheet)
- this spreadsheet is then printed and added to a collection of word documents (standard terms and condition of business, important information, and quality assurance sheets)
- the office staff then manually input the customer and address details into a word template to print onto a pre-printed certificate.

We want to automate this, so the engineer inputs the address on the palmtop, then all of the inspection details, comes back to the office uploads the file, runs the software/access and hits print so the whole process is automated.
