I need modifications to an existing fixed assets database as follows:
Depreciation is currently calculated on a 'reducing balance' basis ie. 1st year = annual % of purchase value of an asset., 2nd year = (purchase value - 1st year depreciation) x annual %.
I need a 'straight line' calculation which is much simpler ie. an annual % of the purchase price of an asset each year - eg if depreciation is 20% of £5000 then the calculation should be £5000 x 20% = £1000pa and the same for each subsequent year.
Calculations need to take into account that there is a default % for depreciation, but this can be overridden for any individual asset.
I need depreciation to be calculated on a monthly basis.
Once the correct depreciation calculation is set, i need a couple of reports for accounting purposes:
1) Amount of monthly depreciation subtotalled by G/L account code
2) A report which shows the purchase price of asset, cumulative depreciation from purchase date to the end of a given month, NPV (net present value) of asset.
I need to be able to export these reports into excel.
I have attached a spreadsheet which gives a breakdown of the depreciation calculation and details of what informaiton i need in my reports
If you need any further clarification or details please let me know
