Description of consulting work: We are a leading UK start-up in the innovation space. Our idea management platform helps large companies innovate and engage with employee ideas.
We sell mainly to CXOs and the heads of innovation and transformation at large UK-based companies with 2,000 to 150,000+ employees. Customers include numerous FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies from customer-facing industries: major airlines, train operators, retailers, utilities providers, and more. Annual contract values range up to £80,000.
We are just under three years and, so far, our sales have been all been through outbound (cold email and calls). This proved successful given that we work with so many great customers. However, it is time for us now to explore and build a proper marketing arm. The main objective is to generate high-quality leads and help the sales team shorten the sales cycle.
What have we done so far?
Brand messaging --> We have done very thorough research involving all our departments, customers, prospective customers, and partners to find out about ourselves and how to most effectively get our message across
Visual identity --> We will very soon launch a brand new website which carries our brand and it also incorporates new well-thought-out brand illustrations. A brand-new sales deck in the same visual style and messaging will follow soon.
Client marketing --> We now have our first four customer case studies and testimonials, including two professional videos.
Events --> Our first self-hosted event will be in September. From then, we'll host events on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
Social Media --> We are currently developing a strategy for this.
What do we need from you?
What the above should show is that (1) we are already successful and know our market very well and (2) that we are very thoughtful and hard-working when it comes to building our marketing.
Nevertheless, we are learning marketing on the job and are no experts who can draw upon knowledge from previous experience and training. It's very much of a thing where "we don't know what we don't know". This is why we would like to collaborate with an experienced enterprise software marketer who can provide advice and guidance on an ongoing basis. The consulting will revolve around marketing strategy as well as implementation. That's why it would be good to work with an allrounder.
