Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Geographical areas: China, France, UK
Description of Business Development: Hello there, for this part of the project we need a product that already exists, but in a larger size, made smaller.
The size specification/measurements are provided in the attached document.
I am happy to take advice on the material, but steel / stainless steel is how the larger ones are made:
• Rod: custom-made steel used in surface processing, providing complete strength towards traction.
• Nut: high safety steel (lead-free, systematic control carried out after drawing through Eddy currents and ultrasounds).
• Surface processing made through electrolytic coating on the entire material (rod & nut).
Note that they are also made out of something called Zicral:
• 7075 Zinc-aluminium alloy-magnesium (AFNOR-USA-GB)
• Anti-corrosion
• Negligible weight (density: 2,80)
• Totally non-magnetic
• Fair mechanical strength (25h bar)
And also Brass.
Either way, in this case, the nut would ideally have a surface that would allow it to be sufficiently tightened by fingers, so that it would not come loose just with the normal movement/friction of a dog running about!
One alternative I have thought of, if finger tightening would not work and a normal nut was the only solution, is providing the twisted maillon with a small spanner to enable the user to easily get it to the required torque (the tightening of the nut) to ensure it would stay shut, which is critical.
