Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Design details: I'm looking for someone who is able to provide illustrations for a series of children's stories that I have written. The stories are all around 1,000 words long and I'm looking to make them available as e-books first off. The stories revolve around a girl (aged 9/10), the adventures she gets up to and they're aimed at children aged 4-7.
I'm not sure on the number of images that I'll need so some flexibility from the artist is required, as will a front cover design. If you have experience of this and can provide guidance it would be much appreciated.
You will be credited with the illustrations and free to use them in your portfolio but everything you produce must be original for me and image rights passed to myself. If the books get picked up by a publisher or tv series then you will of course come along for the ride too and benefit from that.
If you have experience of this area then great, but I'm happy to take bids from new illustrators too as everyone needs to start somewhere (I marked it as Intermediate because I didn't want to frighten anyone off).
Please don't ask about budget, I want you to give me a realistic price based on your experience and the length of time you think the project will take you. Please quote for 1 book first off to see how it goes. Margins on e-books are pretty small so while cost won't be the only deciding factor, it will have an influence. If you're happy to work for a smaller fixed fee plus commission from the sales then that could be an option.
Timescale: I'm in no rush, as I'd rather take the time to find the right illustrator who I'm comfortable working with. At the moment this is a fact finding mission to see how illustrators on here compare with other platforms and what they can offer not just in terms of price but service.
Sorry for the long post but hopefully it should give you enough detail to put forward a proposal, but if you have any questions, please do ask.
Target audience: Children aged 4-7
Ideas for the visual style: Think Janet and John crossed with Dora the Explorer
Extra notes:
