Description of legal work: I have a very simple business idea which is for commercial raffles. For example, raffle tickets cost £1, prize is a car/designer handbag/holiday or something else of value. Prize draw will be held on a specified day and ticket purchases will close at a specified time prior to the draw.
I understand that this falls under gambling in the UK. I am also aware that similar businesses are run in the UK with the use of a "spot the ball" competition (or such like) which takes them outside of the gambling regulations.
I want to advertise my raffle tickets using social media; and need the purchase process to be simple, quick and seamless: one click, paypal/card details and done. It may be more of an "impulse buy". So, I don't think the competition loophole will work for me. So I understand I would need to make some applications to the Gambling Commission and maintain their rules & regulations.
I would like some advice on how to set up the company (I anticipated a basic England & Wales limited company. I would be sole director); what would I need to do to satisfy the Gambling Commission; and anything else of particular note.
Can you help?
Many thanks.
Nadine
