Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
**Summary of Job**
Take an existing Vue.js codebase, and make the web app's interface look pretty without changing any functionality.
**Who am I?**
I am myself a junior backend dev, working for a startup in Zurich (I spent 7 months at the Zurich office, and I'm now working for the company remotely, from the UK.) I recently started work on a side project: a mobile POS system that allows customers to place orders to restaurants, and pay, using their mobile phones.
**Project Details**
The system components:
1) a RESTful API built with Node.js, Express.js, MySQL (https://github.com/callum-messiter/waiter-rest-api)
2) a web-app for restaurateurs (https://github.com/callum-messiter/waiter-web-app)
3) A real-time order "portal" built with WebSockets (essentially the interface between the API and the apps)
4) a mobile-first web app for customers
1, 2 and 3 are pretty much ready to go (I will continue to make improvements and tweaks). I am yet to start work on 4.
My objective is to bring the entire project to a level that is testable in the market; I want to trial a prototype of the system at a restaurant in order to validate it.
It would be fun to spend some money on this project, since I enjoy building things; but foolish to spend thousands on a product that potentially nobody wants. My budget is therefore limited.
**What I Need**
What is need is a hybrid designer-dev to take my web app for restaurateurs, and make it sexier. All the key functionality is in place, but it's not much of a looker (I am no designer!) I don't need any work on the UX, only the UI.
The web app currently includes 3 distinct screens (login/signup, updating the restaurant's menu, managing the restaurant's orders).
This is a Vue.js codebase, so ideally I need a dev who has at least a little experience with Vue. You won't need to build any functionality at all, but previous exposure to the framework will help you to play around with the HTML templates of Vue components.
An understanding of responsivity would be good, but not essential; I use Bootstrap and I can get away with the prototype being only semi-responsive.
**Other details**
Following the redesign of the web app for restaurateurs, I would need help with the UI of the mobile-first web app for customers, so there is potential for a second job if we work well together.
I will also be there to cooperate, help, walk you through the codebase, answer any queries etc. I always love working with other programmers on fun projects!
