Introduction
Doonbank Cottage is a very successful self catering holiday cottage on the west coast of Scotland. The current website has already been optimised for the web and is seriously successful in marketing our business. The site is built in html: www.doonbankcottage.co.uk
However, we would like to make it even better, not least because we both are colourly challenged! What we are looking for is a new look and feel. The text will fundamentally remain the same and it’s the images really sell the cottage.
We like the idea of rounded’ corners and better colour schemes that really show off the property. A top banner design might be really good? We are looking for a site design which strikes the balance of simplicity (white space, strong type) with rich imagery sensitively-applied.
We want to retain the site build in HTML and don’t want a CMS build.
We like multiple navigation pathways which incorporate both text and visual links.
Examples of website we like are:
1. http://www.ayrshireaccommodation.co.uk/.
Like: look and feel, colours, use of images on the pages, clear communication and contact, clear navigation, buttons, roll over images. Don’t like: scrolling down for links.
2. http://www.onealloway.co.uk/. Like: look and feel. Don’t like: navigation, changing images.
3. http://www.lochgreenhouse.com/. Like: colour theme. Don’t like: rolling images
4. http://www.trevasecottages.co.uk/. Like the feel of the site. Don’t like links not obvious.
Examples of websites we don’t like are:
http://www.allowayrozellelodge.co.uk/
http://www.holidaycottagedorset.co.uk/
http://www.rectorycoachhouse.co.uk/
