Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hi,
I'm director of a UK start-up that promotes keep fit at work, in sedentary workplaces mainly.
The business sells activity based office equipment and fitness products that can be stored around the desk. To be launched this month is web based software ( that's had nearly 3 man years of development) for office exercising Next year is planned a corporate education programme relating to what's possible exercise-wise at work.
I'm at the stage where I wish to grow the business at a faster rate but working capital is pegging the growth. So, rather than being able to order container loads of goods which I know will sell out I need to order pallet loads which is obviously more costly. Similarly other areas of business expansion are being limited in what is a potentially huge market.
As problems with obesity and sedentary lifestyles are very much in the news these days I believe the business case has a strong social message which may attract funding
One of the messages the firm delivers is to stand up more when you're at your desk as this burns nearly twice the calories. The convention is to sit but that really is just a convention. One of the projects we're planning to undertake is a 20 user study of the effects of using a mini-stepper in a call center for a 6 week period to determine changes in BMI, waist measurements, blood pressure and call handling volumes. I believe there is enough of a social and newsworthy element to this work for it to attract government or research based funding. I can provide the equipment ( the company sells these products) but I do not really have the experience (or time) to make the various applications needed
I am looking for someone who is able to to look at the business plan and knows how to attract funding that does not require huge equity release or excessive interest payment ( ideally it will be grant based and free if that's possible)
If you think you have experience in this area I would be very interested to hear. Please only apply if you have a track record in the area of attracting funding though.
I have also limited this to UK applicants as the funding sources are most likely to be UK based so you would need to know the financial landscape
Bid type is per hour but if you'd prefer to bid fixed price that's fine
Thanks
Paul
