Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Please see the attached UK hardness map.
Currently if the UK cities are overlain on this there is no dicretization between cities in the same colour band.
I would like to convert the current file into a basic contour.
WHen the cities are overlain and queried they return a value - the cities can then be ranked.
There may be an easier way of ranking the cities so open to approach.
Key output is the ranked list and contour map.
Ideally completed by 2.3.18
Placed under CAD cetgory as there doesn't appear to be one for GIS!

HI JP,
Is a contour map really what you want ? The water hardness is related to the geology of the catchment areas for water supply and doesnt represent a continous surface so contouring the data would be the wrong approach to identify the cities with relative hardness of water.
The best approach would be to use the water suppyl areas. Please can you clarify the purposes you want to use this information for? my worry is that anyone producing what you ask for will actually give you the wrong answer.
