Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are a small, established, full-service web agency. We offer Internet and web-related services to businesses of all sizes, anywhere in the world. The services we offer include website development, application development, consultancy, interim resourcing, staff training, design, hosting and maintenance. We do so by specialising in an increasingly popular and widely used open source (free to use) Content Management System (CMS) called Drupal.
We have just finalised our first full year of accounts, ready for publishing. This gave us an opportunity to review our progress to date and our 5 year plan. The good news is we have performed astonishingly well with a sales and marketing budget of precisely zero! However, we want to grow and to grow we need to do better. Considering our progress without any budget, just imagine what we'll achieve when we start taking sales and marketing seriously.
Well that is precisely what we are going to do. For the next financial year we have allocated a serious budget to sales and marketing and we intend to spend it. We want to drive sales and boost revenues, beginning immediately. We are setting ourselves aggressive sales targets and we need all the help we can get to hit them. As a result we are searching for talented, experienced, part-time sales executives, with a strong background in appropriate industry sectors, to work with us to realise those targets.
There is no salary, but there is uncapped sales commission of 20% on every sale you make. Most of our sales to date have been Drupal development services for a specific website or application a business wants to have built. Looking at our historical data, a single sale would be expected to yield at the very minimum a £1,000 commission and anything up to £10,000 or more.
The role is home-working and hours are totally flexible. You work as much or as little as you want to. We also plan to make this role permanent and full time, with a £30,000 base salary and uncapped commission, some time during 2011, so if you do well as a freelancer and fancy something more solid, you could be in line for the permanent position.
About you:
You're an experienced sales executive and you've got at least 5 years in IT and/or consultancy and/or agency sales under your belt. You're self-sufficient and self-motivating, but you're not working a full time job right now. Perhaps you're taking time out, perhaps on maternity, perhaps semi-retired, perhaps simply a victim of the economic down-turn. Whatever your circumstances, this role will offer you the opportunity to earn money on your own terms and put in the hours you can.
Technically you can be anywhere in the world, and we will consider global applications, though we are most interested in boosting our sales in the UK and in Europe. If you come recommended by somebody we know and trust already, all the better.
Responsibilities:
We need to drive at least an additional £80,000 revenue in the next financial and £160,000 more on top of that in the year proceeding. We believe the business is out there and you will be responsible, along with other sales executives, for bringing it in.
Once you've made the sale, it's the existing team's job to take up the project management and delivery - this is a 100% sales role and don't worry about over-selling. We have an excellent group of partners and contractors who can pick up any overspill work, should you sell more than we can handle internally, and we'll always keep a handle on the project management no matter who is cutting the code.
We don't expect you to work all hours (though obviously we won't object if you want to!) - we're much more concerned about the quality of individual, their understanding of our business and who they can target than how many hours they clock up. We want sales, but not at the expense of our excellent reputation. As such, for this role there will be no specific sales targets to hit, but we will expect weekly reports of sales activity and you will need to enter everything you do in our CRM system.
Finally, by joining our team you will also help us revise and refine our sales strategy, suggest ways we can help you with lead generation, suggest how we can improve our marketing materials, etc. since you will undoubtedly have better ideas than we do. We will be totally open to your suggestion and guidance on this.
