Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
The product is a low meat sausage using only 25% free range pork. The other ingredients are healthy chickpeas, lentils, vegetables and grains. The target audience is women over 40 years old who want to eat less meat. There are lots of other benefits associated to choosing a low meat sausage, environmental benefits because there is less impact on the environment, animal welfare because the meat we use is high welfare and less animals are sent to slaughter, and health benefits associated to eating less red and processed meat.
I have a range of 3 sausages, one is a British banger, one has a curry spicing and the other has a Texas smokey flavour. All 3 of the sausages have the same appearance and size, they might have slightly different colours due to the spicing.
The sausages will be displayed in a recyclable plastic tray and wrapped with cling film. I have two options for a label:
1. is to do a sticky wrap around label that would stick to the cling film
2. The other is to have a cardboard wrap
My preference is for option 1 as this uses less packaging and is a cheaper option but I will choose whichever packaging will make more sales and am open to discussion on this aspect.
The key messages on the packaging are:
• Logo
• Low meat high welfare sausages
• For people who want to eat less meat
• Only 25% Free Range British pork
• Other ingredients are chickpeas, lentils, vegetables and grains
• Recyclable plastic tray
• Flavour of sausage
• Health claims, there may be other claims that I can make like low salt or low fat but I need to check this with nutritional testing
Who I am looking for: a UK designer of food labels who understand legal requirements for labels, my aim is to get the product stocked on UK supermarket shelves.

Molly - Is it a requirement to utilise the Molly Musgrave logo included in your brief in the packaging design? I feel that this warrants consideration if you intend to really make a success of this brand. Mike

Molly, are you open for non-UK designers as well?
