Description
Experience Level: Expert
Design details: The Job
On 19 March PIP delivers its annual original theater production. We are quite behind on promoting this (having lost our venue at short notice being the biggest). But at last we have a title, venue, etc. Title is The Journey Of Peace . We now need a poster designed, and are searching for a designer who can deliver quality to a tight deadline. If you are interested, a few notes below:
We are looking for an original design which is catchy, sharp, and alludes to the title and theme of the original production. Photos of the performers are NOT an option, although some photo shop work around striking poses is a possibility (more below).
The group were inspired by a visit to the British Museum and have been working on a story which includes conflict, resolution, royalty, love, loss and peace (everything a good Shakespeare story has, eh!?). We are need a striking image that conveys some of the story and the choreography derived from our research trip to the British museum.
I have attached photos of the students posing in three different stances: a punch in the air (or forwards) , two hands together as if in prayer, and the arms crossed over the torso as if hugging themselves or in death. These were all taken from statues we saw at the British museum.
I think we could have the three figures in silhouette but with some kind of outline so you can see the line of the arms and hands. There are three main characters in the play:
A Green prince, a green princess and a red prince.
We could have a green crown on the figure with the punch, a princess crown on the figure in prayer and a red crown on the figure with the arms crossed. This choreography matches the character and their actions in the story. I’ve attached photos of the British museum to put it in some context. Please note we don’t want a simply picture-silhouette/photo shopped, etc., would work, but the actual faces, etc., should not be recognisable.

Extra notes: Since 1984 Pursuing Independent Paths (PIP), a small London based charity has been supporting local young adults (over 18s) with learning disabilities and autism to develop the skills and confidence they need to be more independent and achieve their potential.
Each year PIP’s skilled and committed staff and volunteer team engage 60 adults with disabilities in a broad range of education, personal development, social and health activities as well as creative art and drama projects, travel training, recreational trips and holidays. Activities are tailored to groups of adults with variable abilities and include sessions on literacy, numeracy, healthy living, cooking, art, drama, music and work skills.
There is a genuine need for PIP to ensure that adults with learning disabilities do not lose skills and become isolated from their community, but rather continue to thrive, develop and learn throughout their lives.
