Description
Experience Level: Expert
I need an employment law consultant to handle tribunal representation for a case listed from 10 -28 January 2010 for a claim against a large supermarket. It is an employment tribunal claim in East London Tribunal Centre for sex discrimination (harassment and bullying) and disability discrimination. The SDA claim arises out of treatment suffered from various colleagues and the employer\'s delays and failures in handling the grievance. The DDA claim arises out of the fact that the employer\'s conduct has resulted in the employee\'s depression. Solicitors are acting for the employee on a no win,no fee basis as they consider the claim to be meritorious. Employer is represented by a company that is paid a fixed fee for handling all their matters so there is no real financial incentive for them to settle at this stage. Employee therefore needs to ensure that she has employment tribunal representation to handle the case which may settle part way through. It is an interesting case, well prepared by solicitors and presents an ideal opportunity for a law graduate or freelance tribunal advocate to gain tribunal experience. The matter is too long to be handled on a pro bono basis and bids for reasonable fees, are invited. I would prefer a fixed fee bid for the 15 day hearing which will largely have already been prepared by the solicitors anyway. The work will therefore require a pre-hearing conference with the client (and perhaps solicitors) and representation at the Hearing itself. A tribunal day usually lasts from 10am -4pm and I do not envisage that the case will last the full 15 days as employee has approximately three witnesses.
