Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: financial analysts
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Num. of modules: 1
Description of every module: DST/EST Converter specifications
I have large data sets in which the date and time are always in an identical format, but these times have not been adjusted for daylight savings Time. Sometimes the Eastern standard time is also wrong.
I need to run these text files through a script that will convert the times in consideration of the DST or EST.
These files are too large to load in excel so they are in notepad. I would like an executable application that has the following features..
1-File Browse ( This allows the user to browse his hard drive for the TXT file to be loaded.)
2-Input fields;
- YEAR EST DATE START TIME DST START DATE START TIME EST Adjust DST Adjust
2006 2006.11.01 12:00 2007.03.02 12:00 -1 1
2007 2006.11.03 12:00 2007.03.16 12:00 0 1
2008 2006.11.02 12:00 2007.03.12 12:00 -1 1
3-START
The start button goes through the whole file. at the prescribed start date and time the script adjust the time of every minute to the adjustment value. if the value is +1, then the script increments every time record from the beginning date and beginning time, by 1 hour. It stops when the other format starts. eg EST stops at the following DST and DST stops at the following EST.
Format sample. In bold is the hourly time that would have to change. It is only the hourly time that needs change.
2006.10.04,10:39,1.1265,1.1266,1.1265,1.1266,1
2006.10.04,10:40,1.1266,1.1267,1.1266,1.1267,1
2006.10.04,10:41,1.1267,1.1271,1.1267,1.1271,3
2006.10.04,10:42,1.1271,1.1271,1.127,1.1271,2
attached is a sample file and a complete file if I can fit it.
