Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
London-based start-up seeking bids from a web developer/designer to design and build a web site.
Site Pages: 1) Home (Blog); 2)Interactive calendar (users can view calendar, click on event for more info/booking); 3) Travel/Eat/Sleep/Do/Shop (commerce); 4) Photo Galleries; 5) Membership, 6) About; 7) Contact
Landing page of site is a blog. Wordpress is a good choice for us but we're open to advice vis-a-vis how to merge blog with e-commerce and other needs as mentioned above.
Site further offers users the ability to book tickets to events and travel directly on the site. The e-commerce elements of the web site will involve numerous affiliate partnerships (think Ticket Master). The site's functionality will need to accommodate that and provide a seamless transactional experience for users who might be booking air travel, accommodations, theatre/club/event tickets from our shopping cart and recommended listings.
Design needs: The works graphic design, logo, templates, everything
Feeling: Hip and cool, but not too hip and cool. Elegant, but not too elegant. Fun but not too fun. (Design should be driven by a clear navigation and smooth functionality.)
Additional needs:
- design should incorporate IAD-compliant ad blocks, with number of blocks scalable
- Google ad units (2?) with advice on need for custom style
- SEO-friendly permalink structure
- Manual script insertions: Buy Now / Book Now Button on individual blog posts if needed,
- NOTE: Most complex issue will revolve around baking numerous partners into one shopping experience. This needs to work perfectly and be easy to use. And we need to be able to populate and update the offerings ourselves once the site is launched.
- Guidance on how to use site features/functions
The candidate will
Be an experienced web developer.
Designing clear and effective pages.
Be attuned to a clean UI and have knowledge of website design best practices.
Possess creative graphic design skills.
Have previously worked with whatever CMS system they recommend to us.
Have a portfolio/references.
