Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I have a small business that commissions one-off services from suppliers and sells them on to clients.
At present I have 2 Filemaker databases • one of jobs actually done (client details, invoice details, cost etc) and one of suppliers. One database has 22 fields and one has 13. I wish to continue working with Filemaker and am trying to tidy up the databases • turn them into one database - and make it as efficient as possible, getting rid of repeated info and with relational links etc.
I have read up on how to create “relational” links and tables but I can’t work out the optimum way of storing some of my information • how many tables I should have and how/where they link to each other.
I would like to be able to send you a couple of example records from each database and either over the phone or by email, explain how (I think) they link, what “reports” I most often need to generate, and then you design the structure of the database, which fields go in which tables etc, possibly re-allocating fields, so that the database becomes workable. I can then enter the data myself in to this new design.
I don’t know how many hours this should take, nor how much you charge an hour so I would like to receive a costing from you.
