Description
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of every page/module: DIscogs API working with Gardners FTP order submission software
( I want to sell via my own site too, but initially it will be via Discogs)
Gardners are a media wholesaler
DIscogs are an online media marketplace for selling media
Gardners provide an hourly Price & availability file via FTP. (P&A) example attached
These products are listed by EAN (European article number)
I have a shop on Discogs website.
I want to list items that are available in P&A file from on Discogs store, using their API.
https://www.discogs.com/developers/
In order to list on Discogs, each EAN needs to manually be cross-referenced to a Discogs Release ID.
The release ID is required to list via API.
At present I have a simple table in excel / MS Access that lists these cross – references.
Only listings will go on to Discogs where this x-ref exists:
Example of xref:
EAN RELEASE
889397557096 6606240
825646287383 8162132
825646982158 7810100
602537547692 5468027
Once a consumer makes a purchase from the site and payment is made (Via Paypal)
The order is sent to Gardeners and is shipped out directly by them.
The attached file Home delivery specifications handles this.
The system will need to regularly post new orders to Gardners FTP so that they can fulfil the order.
The customer receives the goods. I simply collect the funds and pay my invoice to Gardners.
Gardners ship the products directly to the customer.
They also handle returns
As for the sales price to list on discogs, that will be worked out in a formula that will be something along the lines of:
Cost (from P&A file) + fixed handling fee (0.65) + cost postage + VAT + Margin (amount I will set per item) + VAT = 8% (discogs Fee)
Sales on Discogs have the postage built in
This method will allow sales to start once the EAN / release ID database is added to.
It will reflect live stock as much as possible.
Longer term;
The longer term plan is very much geared towards building up the database of available items and selling on my own site, amazon and others, not just discogs.
I am not sure if this can be done in wordpress to allow for the future plan or if the Gardners / discogs feed should be kept separate,
Description of requirements/features: create listings from gardners price & availability file.
x-ref to discogs release id
only list available items
update every hour
orders via discogs API get sent to Gardenrs order FTP
futire plan to sell on direct website

I am very good with API, dropship etc. But finding it hard to understand what you require rite now.
It will be better if the task is done in phases.
If you want to list products on Discogs as the first task.
i. The product you want to list on discogs belongs to you or to discogs?
Please clarify without the technical details. All technical details are always on the manual or guide.
Ben C.20 Jan 2017Tig, hi..
Discogs is a huge catalogue of media, but you can also sell on there.
I have done this manually for some time.
Discogs provide the category and product information.
Once you have found the release ID i can list items for sale on there by API .
example of 1 release here: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/6606240?currency=GBP&ev=rb&condition=Mint+%28M%29
Garders will receive the order via the ftp and send it out to customer
I want to use the stock available from the Gardeners data to list what i have to sell on the Discogs site.

Easier on wordpress because unlimited access to files/database.
i. The products from Gardner is it a one off or continuous? How many initial product?
ii. Can i make a placeholder bid? difficult to estimate how long it will take to do the cross referencing before uploading to Discogs.
After i have all the files i can provide a proper quote.
