The job I wish to apply for is for me the next level into breaking into the industry especially as the company I wish to apply for are well known and a market leader. Purpose
The role is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in ensuring that all deliverables are integrated with the master programme and any interfaces co-ordinated with the designer and Principal Contractor in order to meet London Trams design and assurance requirements through to construction and handover of the new assets in to operation.
The candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the Rail industry with demonstrable project experience, including ensuring that all gateways are successfully approved and internal and external stakeholders fully engaged with.
The role includes supporting of project reporting, project delivery, commissioning and project closeout including putting-into-service and handover to the operators and maintainers, and financial close. London Trams require an Assistant Project Manager that is familiar with Health and Safety legislation and can successfully support the implementation of the projects within TfL and contractual boundaries; to achieve cost, time and quality objectives set by London Trams.
Accountabilities
• Assist the Project Manager and the Project Engineer in developing and managing the project programme and obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders
• Assist in the reviewing of documents and designs
• Assisting with effective financial and project management controls
• Creating Project Management documents required for the TfL Pathway Project Management System
• Continually looking to enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures and systems
• Assisting the project team in maintaining an overview of the commercial aspects of the project (contract, invoicing, etc)
• Assist in communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects
• Assisting in the acquisition, deployment and management of resources for the project to ensure optimal resource allocation for the project
• Assisting in the assessment, selection and management of suppliers, sub-consultants and contractors associated with projects
• Assisting in risks reviews so that risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project
Knowledge
• Knowledge and understanding of risk management processes
• Knowledge and understanding of contractual issues in a project environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of financial control and procurement processes and techniques.
• Knowledge and understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques.
• Degree in (for example) business, engineering, or equivalent, is desirable.
• Awareness of safety issues in an operating railway environment, is desirable
• Understanding of CDM responsibilities
Skills
• Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions and produce reports
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally
• Ability to build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally
• Ability to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to basic level
Experience
• Experience of making day-to-day decisions around project issues
• Experience of working on contracts/projects in a commercial environment particularly relating to projects upto £1 million in value (either as an individual or as a member of a team with specific areas of responsibility)
• Experience of building effective working relations with people at all levels across an organisation and externally
• Experience of analysis of projects data
• Experience of working in a team-based service environment
• Experience of managing external suppliers in a construction environment
• Experience of management of design lifecycle in a rail environment
