Description
Experience Level: Entry
Kind of writing: Children
Topic: Mathematics/Multiplication
Tone: Playful
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: I am working on a project for multiplication memorisation and would like some creative brainstorming for picture words that can be animated in a fun memorable way.
So let's say 2 x 2 = 4 - to come up with a story involving picture words that rhyme with 2 and 4
I have a list but it's at work for each number sequence - using a site like http://www.rhymezone.com/
I would think which words are common enough for young people to likely know and picture words - ones you can visualise so things like zoo, screw, poo, Pooh, chew, glue, spew..
Then for four you might have words like door, war, floor, snore..
So would then have to think of a little story that combines the two elements to the answer - an example would be something like this (of the top of my head):
A silly bear is trying to put up some wallpaper. He wants to do the job quickly so he has a brush in each hand ( 2 lots of 2/glue) with big globs of glue and he is merrily brushing it on the paper ready to put it on the wall. The doorbell rings and he walks to the door still carrying the brushes - while he walks he doesn't notice that Glue is glooping all over the Floor (four) - when he walks back from the door he slips on some icky sticky glue and Oh no he is stuck to the FLOOR on his back. When you think of the two lots of glue in each hand you will think of floor and remember 2 x 2 is 4
IMPORTANT: To be considered then would like you to give me just a brief idea for one of the times tables at random - does not have to be as detailed as above e.g. glue x glue = floor - a story involving glue and getting stuck to the floor. Of course more detailed is fine too
I would imagine around 1 story every 10 minutes would be about appropriate so 5-6 stories per hour.
I look forward to receiving your entries
