Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We would like to create a responsive website version of our hybrid mobile app.
The app itself uses Cordova/PhoneGap and so already has many HTML/CSS/JS elements. It should be possible to reuse much of this code and modify it for access via a web browser, replacing any mobile-specific functionality (e.g. photo uploads) with web alternatives, etc. The website then would act as more of a "web app" and continue to interact with the backend API using the existing AJAX code (to clarify: the mobile app already communicates with the backend via AJAX - so the web version should be able to do the same). Note that the mobile app doesn't have much responsive CSS as-is.
You would be responsible for 1) creating the web version of the app; 2) making design tweaks where necessary e.g. to accommodate the change in scale from mobile screen size to desktop; and 3) ensuring the web version is up to web standards and compatible with the usual platforms/browsers/etc, as several assumptions about feature support have been made in the mobile app (i.e. the app has been written only with Android/iOS and Chrome/Safari in mind).
For legacy reasons, the app is a mashup* of various frameworks and libraries, but you should only need to work with Vue.js and jQuery most of the time. Much of the JavaScript is written in TypeScript. The rest of the app frontend is HTML and CSS/LESS.
* In case it's relevant: The app is built on a package that was purchased, containing some design elements and animations and such. This "theme" included and requires Framework7, but Framework7 isn't "reactive" by itself so Vue.js had to be added. Also, Framework7's DOM library (Dom7) can't do everything that jQuery can do - so jQuery had to be added to the mix. Then there's a good chunk of custom code written to get all of these to play nice together.
The original programmer will be available to help you find your way around the existing code if necessary. Also, the backend shouldn't need to be changed, but the original programmer can make any required changes.
Please respond with hourly bids. Chosen applicants will be given access to the app - and then we can get a better idea of timelines and perhaps negotiate a fixed price. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, etc.
Thanks for your time.
