Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Words per email: 1000
Information for the business: We're an email newsletter for retired travellers
Industry: Lifestyle/Travel
Topic: Costa Rica TRavel Guide
Tone: Witty/Sharp
Outline & Structure: I need an experienced travel writer to put together a guide to travel to costa rica aimed at older travellers (typically well off retiree's, 65+)
The guide will be sent out as an email newsletter and want's to be broken up into short, sharp chunks of information. The structure is flexible but should include;
Information about flying from the uk
Visa requirements
Safety (+Travel insurance recommendation)
Accommodation options
Best/ notable places to stay ('our accommodation recommendations')
Getting around
Places to visit/ things to see & do
Costs
Guided tour options
Best time to visit
+Anything else you think relevant/ useful for this audience
Linking is an important part of the job here. Wherever possible and within reason you want to include links to where a flight/ hotel/ tour can be booked. So if you
You don't need to go into elaborate detail on any point, its an introductory guide. You can link off to other reputable sources. Ideally these links will be to mainstream travel sites (we'll earn a commission on these links whereas a link to wikipedia we won't!). However if a link is very relevant and to a non-commercial source or blog, thats fine.
The information needs to be "evergreen" so don't talk about one off events or anything that will date too quickly like flight prices. You can talk about recurring annual events though of course.
The tone wants to be fun, witty and upbeat. Consider the audience (older people) but don't make it stale or overly formal, older travellers who are interested in visiting costa rica and likely to be bold and adventurous so excite them about the possibilities as well as giving them the facts!!
Extra notes: 1000 words is a guideline not a target, happy for it to be longer or shorter within reason
