Experience Level: Intermediate
I am an experienced Excel Consultant and VBA programmer but even I have fallen fowl of this requirement.
I have built a spreadsheet that is a staff database and rota system for one of my clients. I have set it up so that when he has completed his rota the Excel file emails each staff member with their rota for the coming fortnight to save him spending hours on the phone calling each staff member working the next shift. It's working well, but...
Problem is some of the guys that work for him have missed shifts using excuse that they didn't check their email etc... they've been given a warning but he now wants to send them each a text message using his mobile which connects via PCSync. Each message will tell the staff member to check their email and give them the details of their next shift.
So in summary I need a piece of VBA script / a sub for Excel 2007 that I can add into my spreadsheet that will send a text message through Nokia PCSync. The script will be short and concise, refer to two cells in a spreadsheet, one containing mobile number, 2nd containing text. I do not need you to do any more. I will need you to walk me through the solution.
My client wants to use his own phone so please no suggestions of using an internet provider. I did try using mobile numbers as emails through provider services but was unsuccessful, my client is open to this alternative.
As a prompter I know the solution will involve the Nokia_PC_Connectivity_API_3.2 which I can forward or can be downloaded from the Nokia forum (I cannot attach as it exceeds 1MB limit) have attached. I have attached some code that I have been playing with but have failed to get working plus it is far too cumbersome.
I have a semi-successful solution using sendkeys in VBA but I do not want to continue down this route.
