Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
The idea is to create a macro to open a userform to allow the user to fill in 'client interests' from a dropdown list. Following this, a new excel file should be created at a certain location. The answers given should then be entered into the NewFile. Each time the macro runs, a new excel file should be created to capture the information.
- Create a macro which opens a userform. The userform contains approx 4-5 fields, some text, some dropdown. The dropdowns list items will be provided.
- More than one option may need to be selected from each list.
- The dropdowns will be quite large - one at approx 350!
- The dropdowns will need to be changed from time to time, so best we pull these in from a sheet rather than hard coding. Specifically, we will update the list of FTSE 350 stocks. This sheet can exist on the same workbook running/holding the macro.
- The output should be a NewFile created in a certain directory and time/date stamped (including seconds, to avoid conflict) along with the client email address entered (a free text field). NewFile will contain the answers from the userform, ready for processing later (will provide required format of the NewFile).
We will insert the macro into an existing workbook. We can make the smaller necessary tweaks to the code in-house, we need the bulk of the code written and functional so we can plug it in. For example, the actual directory we can specify ourselves in the code.
FYI only - the' new file' will be used to populate a master spreadsheet. This will run at night by looping through all of the individual new files created, to avoid conflict.
Note, this has to be a VBA project rather than standard excel because the workbook being used will be read-only for most users, so the output data must be written into a newly created file.
Can send more detailed brief if you're interested.
