Description of support work: We have 2 'micro businesses' - one is a consultancy which has a pretty stable low volume services client base, and one we have set up more recently as a start-up in education products.
Our bookkeeping is basic - more like records keeping - and there's been blurry lines between the 2 companies as we've been building up the new one over the last year, so we need someone to sort out the correct home for expenses, tax and loans point of view over the last financial year, and then ensure our simple systems and processes are fit for purpose moving forward.
We've also just appointed a first staff member for the start-up company and need to set up payroll. As the other company has a single member of staff also we'd like to move the administration of the payroll away from our accountants to work alongside this one.
Though both companies are tiny and simple (turnover of each within the £40-60K bracket for 17/18 and very low volume of transactions) the relationship between them and treating the backlog adds a bit of complexity so, for this reason, we'd like the initial work to be done on site at our offices in Kennington SE11. After we're set up we'll just need simple bookkeeping and payroll services on a monthly basis.
So in summary we need help on:
1) 16/17 financial year: Bookkeeping for the consultancy business only - collating materials from Xero and some other sources for forwarding to our accountants including making some sensible recommendations about how our 2 companies split costs through a research and development period over the last year
2) 17/18 financial year: Establishing some simple systems and processes for accounts and bookkeeping for both small creative businesses - we've switched to Quickbooks from April this year and like it better.
3) Payroll: Set up a new employee in the new company. Process payroll for both that and the other employee in the other business on a rolling basis.
We can see it will be difficult to quote a fixed price for this work - so hourly rate is what we're asking for, but any thoughts you have about budget referencing comparable jobs would be helpful to select a candidate.
