Following some questions I have added the following 7 points for clarity;
1) A new project will just be the root module as such, which will need to be named relevant to the project and have the client and tender details entered.
2) A system will then need to be added and this should be select-able in future revisions. The only system option in this phase will be a BMS System. The BMS system should be able to be renamed. This selection will dictate what install calculations are made and what modules are used.
3) The BMS system type is currently Trend BMS, this will also be select-able in future works. The system BMS type dictates which control equipment is referenced from the BOM sheet.
4) Under system will be panel. This will have a name and Form class. The form will dictate how much cost per point for that type of panel. The name will be custom to it's location that we fill in on tender. **Please note on issued UI pdf the box types are the wrong way around!
5) When customising a module and storing values in the DATA tab, certain fields are going to need to be linked to the BOM part numbers that are relevant for selection. If that module is then saved we would update the BOM qty by how many instances that part number appears in the DATA tab.
6) Looking at the install side a little further, I think we need to adjust our costings on the install tab so they can directly represent the power items under 'phases' on the CONSTANTS tab. This may make it easier, yet you may have your own way of grouping these items.
7) For the initial build we are not looking to implement user accounts as this is not yet going to be used in production.
General information for the business: We are a specialist contractor in construction - Building Automation
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality:
We are looking to develop an automated output in excel for our estimates, points lists and Bill Of Materials.
When opening a new estimate sheet we would like a VB form to prompt the user to complete essential details for the quotation ie. Client etc..
Once the default information is entered we would like to construct the design using the 'treeview' module. I have submitted a design idea for the excell app - 'SCS Quote Builder Tool Example UI.pdf' and a spreadsheet for this first phase development. The spreadsheet has an example treeview vb module under the DATA tab.
We will work from a list of standard SCS modules that will link to the bill of materials BOM for costs, parts, install etc.
For this first phase we will only use 7 modules until we are happy with the automation of the quote and points list output. As these modules are added to build up the estimate, they can be customised and stored under the DATA tab.
I have also supplied an example of the estimate and points list in pdf format. We currently do not incorporate the BOM but would like to build this into the estimate.
I welcome any feedback or questions once you have taken the time to look through the supplied material. Should this work prove successful, it will lead to developing a full production version.
Specific technologies required: Excel, VB
OS requirements: Windows
