Description
Experience Level: Entry
I run a small IT support company, based in London. We have created websites for many of our clients and are looking to find the right person to help us manage this aspect of our business.
To start with, the bulk of the work will be updating and refreshing the current websites as client requests come in. There is also a strong possibility that helping to build new websites would become part of this person's role.
The candidate would need a very good working knowledge of Dreamweaver, Fireworks (and/or Photoshop) and Adobe Contribute. Obviously, a good understanding of FTP and other website related tools is also needed. Also, the candidate would need to be familiar administering and possibly building WordPress websites.
The candidate would be asked to download websites to their computer, update pages as instructed, find solutions when needed and upload and test changes. This would all be without very much supervision so we are looking for someone who handles instructions well and can do thorough work consistently and independently.
What makes a website useful and aesthetically pleasing is very subjective, so as part of the interview process candidates will be given a pitch and asked to research and present templates or designs that they feel match what's being asked for. We will also ask to see previous examples of the candidates work to get an idea of what sort of websites they build.
An hourly wage would be agreed, and work would be provided as and when. This position would probably start with a few projects and tasks to work on but could well progress into a regular work. There are quite a few projects on the horizon.
Please be clear that we are not interested in providing our clients with cookie cutter run-of-the-mill websites. Our clients expect high quality, well designed, well specified websites so it won't be just a matter of picking a template and putting in some text. We are looking for someone with an eye for design, who knows how to put together a modern, professional and unique looking site.
We have access to website designers, so this role is primarily to do the management, nuts and bolts and updating aspects of running the sites. However, if the candidate has good website design skills, obviously that would be very beneficial and design work could become part of the job description.
The candidate would need excellent communication skills, and would need to be able to read, write, and understand English without any difficulty.
If you feel you might be a suitable candidate for this job and can provide us with a competitive hourly rate, please write us a brief note letting us know why you are suitable and provide links to sites that you have made or been heavily involved with.
