Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Heating specialist with knowledge of AGAs/experienced plumber required.
We ideally need someone with knowledge of AGAs, boilers and plumbing.
Proper certification/guarantees will be required for any works carried out and/or parts supplied.
The current situation is that our oil-fired AGA is being used to heat water both for main family bathroom and for kitchen. It does a very good job unless demand is high. (Then we have to use electric override on hot water tank which is currently broken.) However, the pipe run from AGA to hot water tank and then back down again to kitchen sink is very long, so a lot of heat is lost on the way. Meanwhile we also have a powerful Boulter Classic oil-fired boiler which is currently being used only during the winter months to run the central heating system and NOT to heat any water.
Because the house was originally two separate dwellings, there are currently two separate mains fed water systems in the house. The other one is totally reliant on electricity.
We are currently looking to put in a new fitted kitchen and therefore wish to use the opportunity to get a better (more efficient and economical) arrangement for water heating. We therefore need someone to come and quote for the design of an efficient water heating system. Without proper advice, we are not sure exactly what is required here. However there are two immediate tasks we need to do and which will provide the opportunity for a full assessment to be made. They are:
1. Service Boulter Boiler and fit external oil filter part that has fallen off needs to be put back/replaced.
2. Re-enamel top and front of AGA (would prefer burgundy colour to current white) supply new lids and new flue and line chimney. Assuming for the moment that this is to remain as a source of hot water either for kitchen and/or bathroom or some radiators, please also quote for boiler parts within AGA that may need to be replaced.
Whoever is successful in winning these jobs will also be asked to:
- Determine the most efficient way to use AGA and/or boiler to provide hot water for bathrooms and Kitchen
- Diagnose whether our existing water softener is wrongly plumbed or malfunctioning
- Diagnose problem with non-functioning electric override system for heating hot water
- Provide full written recommendations and estimate for required changes to water heating system.
Requirement
We are looking for someone with knowledge of both AGAs and boilers to ensure that we get an independent opinion as to the best way forward. You must be experienced and be able to do this work for a reasonable price. If you need any additional information in order to provide a firm quote, please email us. Otherwise, please provide the following with your quote;
- An estimated price for each of the two tasks outlined above
- Day rate
- Details of your credentials and references
Successful completion of the tasks 1 and 2 will provide the opportunity to quote for the re-plumbing for the heating and for plumbing of the new Kitchen (including installation of second water softener) and potentially other projects.
