Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: online marketplace
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: I have a marketplace website that I would like to add features to. It is written in Ruby on Rails, with some Javascript, HTML, and CSS and uses SQLite in test and PostgreSQL in production mode. It is hosted on Heroku. See https://github.com/erinb52s/etsydemo
This repository is similar to the one you will be working on. The actual repository is private.
1) Add fields to the create listing page that will allow the seller to input shipping prices, which will then be added to the total price when the buyer checks out. See Etsy.com for an example; also see the screenshot.
The Active Shipping Ruby gem is one way I've seen this implemented but I'd like to know how you would implement this https://github.com/Shopify/active_shipping
2) Add sales tax and/or VAT if applicable to the order total. The site currently uses Braintree but I am in the process of switching to Stripe.
Here are a couple solutions I found that integrate with Stripe.

3) Add a message board that allows people to reply to a posting privately or in the forum publicly.
Options I've looked at are Discourse https://github.com/discourse/discourse
Forem https://github.com/radar/forem
Thredded https://github.com/jayroh/thredded
4) The site currently uses SQLite/ MySQL. I'd like to switch to PostgreSQL.
Please contact me if anything is unclear. Thank you!
Payment methods: Credit Card, Paypal
Extra notes:
Submit a proposal with the number of hours it will take to complete and a estimated completion date.
