Description
Experience Level: Entry
Num. of articles: 10+
Words per article: 300 (not sure)
Information for the blog/website: Exam Revision
Industry: Education
Topic: A-level (High School) Exam Revision
Tone: Other
Outline & Structure: I would like 10 blogs to be created between now and the end of November with 2 - 4 being ready in 4 weeks’ time. After November, the blogging would be probably be ongoing with either completely new blogs or amendments/additions to the existing blogs. If images/photos are appropriate then I would like you to provide them. Data tables might prove useful (I can supply them for school exam/subject grades). Blogs to be targeted at students doing A-level (aged 17/18) but of interest to parents (it will probably be them that buy the future books) and teachers (they might recommend me to their students).
I do not expect the content to be perfect immediately. We will have a few weeks to develop the initial blogs and to develop a working relationship. Where you will be far stronger than me is producing the best style/format/presentation in a successful blog.
Broadly speaking I would say the blogs could be split into three main themes; 1. School/Teachers/Exam Boards and Grades (The problem) 2. How to study, based on my method (The solution) 3. Goals/Future/Motivation. These can be dealt with individually or combined.
I will decide on which Blog writer to use in about 48 hours’ time.
Extra notes: Background
In the last few years I prepared revision materials and a revision plan for each of my students (most teachers do not). All my students then scored more than 60% (B grade) in the exam with most getting more than 70% (A or A*). The teaching helped but it was the focused revision that did it.
I will use the resources that I have accumulated to create revision/learning packages (probably through Amazon self-published books) for A-level students (aged 17 and 18) and link to a website (yet to be made). I would like initially, about ten blogs to be made that will help explain my philosophy of exam preparation and help promote my products onto various other useful sites.
Within the next four weeks I would like to have created a website with A-level Biology exam questions and fully-worked out model answers. These will be made available for students in exchange for email addresses. Then start promoting the website and releasing a blog or two once a week. Then in December have revision books published in time for ‘mock exams’ which normally take place at the start of January (but some schools will do them just before Christmas).
Below is a brainstorm of ideas which can be made into individual blogs or combined (no particular order);
Grades required by top universities (AAB)
Forgetting and forcing yourself to remember
Number of hours on a subject in class and how much time is spent on teacher explanation
the power of previewing a topic before your teacher teaches it
how much teaching goes on at Eton (less than most schools) and why they get top grades
Spaced learning
repetition is the mother of success
Must write in revision rather than doing stuff on the computer because the exam actually requires you to write
action leads to motivation
Good enough rather than perfection
deliberate practice
scaffolding
exam word length and speed of writing
grade boundaries
your schools average a-level grade, where to find it and how not to be average
staff turnover (teachers teach on average for 5 years)
Good teachers to get more money must take on school management roles which can take them away from their primary function
chunking
knowledge versus understanding (most exam questions require you to show your knowledge but schools often want you to have 'thinking skills').
1% gains (Dave Brailsford - British Cycling) and how to increase your grades
The difference between a b grade and an a grade is 1%
thought is the father of action
actions make motivation (Just do it rather than I don't feel like it)
Why schools don't want to 'spoon feed you' and why they should
Your goals. See beyond the exam.
Activate your reticular cortex
Writing is called a psycho-neuro-motor activity. The action of writing forces you to think and concentrate.
Most young people end up in a similar career/income level as their parents
7 quick steps to A-level success
Quick wins
Data (I have this) that shows the actual exam percentages and grades (it is often a lot lower than you would think e.g. for some subjects a C grade is only 45%).

They are interesting potential topics to write on Stephen.
There is one potential complication with your timings though. You need a first batch of these in November but your posting/ad will have expired by then.
A suggestion is that you allocate the work within the 2x days left of your ad.. when you post or publish the articles from your end, and the timing of that, is not something really that a write will be involved with..?
