The project involves the development of a position dependent 2D FDTD program using matlab. The development should involved an input file to the program which contains a 2-D rectangular surface thaat has a relatively higher permitivity at the centre with permitivity at all other positions being the same. The program reads in the input file , runs the FDTD with an exciting input signal (preferrably gaussian) . A time reversal algorithm should be incorporated to detect the point where the relative permitivity is high t the centre. This code must now be rewritten for a 3D-FDTD with the surface being 3D as well.
The idea behind the project is to simulate the detection of breast cancer in a 2-D surface using FDTD. The 2-D rectangular surface input file represents the breast situation. The centre point where the relative permitivity is high compared to other locations represent the point where the cancer is located.
