Single-Task AI Agent — One Automated Workflow With Tool Use

I will build a single-task AI agent that autonomously completes one well-defined workflow — using LLM tool calling (function calling) to interact with one or two external tools or APIs, reasoning through the steps required to complete the task, and reporting the outcome. A well-scoped single-task agent — for example, researching a topic and summarising findings, or checking data against a set of rules and flagging exceptions — is the right starting point for agentic automation, allowing you to validate the reliability and value of agent-based automation before expanding to more complex, higher-stakes tasks.

The build covers task definition and success criteria, tool/function definitions for the agent's available actions, LLM-based reasoning loop (using OpenAI function calling or a similar framework), error handling for tool call failures, and a results report or notification on task completion.
