What the Freelancer needs to start the work
Access to industry knowledge needs to be provided in order for me to produce a piece of content. I do not charge for research, however, I need to be supplied with specific requirements of the customer and further business insight. This means the buyer will have to provide all details in regards to the industry, similar websites of the competition etc.
For example, if I am asked to complete a blog post worth 500 words I will require a general idea of the topic (I can suggest a title) and insight to the company's line of work. This means that if the company deals with sale of electrical equipment, I will ask for further details regarding that industry: blogs, similar websites of the competition, a company manifesto etc. In essence, anything that could allow me to develop a general understanding about the company and the services/products it offers. Only then will I be prepared enough to create a coherent, relevant and enticing piece of written content.
