Apache Guacamole is the best open-source remote connection proxy, there are many tutorials and auto-install scripts on internet that help you to install and deploy this awesome tool however none of them are offering you a secure implementation with a correct setup, they are just offering functionality, but what about security? That is the reason why I developed a secure and optimized implementation of this awesome tool and I hope I can have the opportunity to help you with my method. All you need is an updated Ubuntu Server instance with support.
The scope of my service is as follows:
Correct setup for your apache guacamole instance
SSL / TLS connections for all the services
MariaDB Database Integration for local authentication
TOTP integration for Two-Factor authentication
Currently Apache Guacamole supports the following protocols:
RDP
VNC
SSH
Telnet
Kubernetes
What the Freelancer needs to start the work
1. Ubuntu Server 20.04 or higher (updated).
2. IP address or hostname to connect to the remote system.
3. SSH Credentials
4. User account with the privileges to run commands as root with sudo (or the root user if possible)
5. If you need authentication with Active Directory, I will need a service account on Active Directory for Apache Guacamole server with the following attributes:
• Active Directory Domain Controller IP Address or Hostname
• SSL / TLS Certificate for the Domain Controller if running LDAPS or StartTLS
• DN (DistinguishedName) of the organization unit to find user accounts
• DN (DistinguishedName) of the service account for Apache Guacamole on Active Directory
6. If using Azure Active Directory, we will need to meet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams to help you prepare your environment for the Active Directory SSO authentication.
7. For DUO MFA we can meet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams to help you prepare your environment for DUO MFA.
8. If you want Keeper Secrets Manager (KSM) Integration for key vault we can meet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams to help you prepare your environment.
